My Design work for Jolt Texas
Year
July 2023 - Now
Location
TX, USA
Working for Jolt allowed me to use my design and communication skills to promote civic engagement in Texas. Working on their social media and email campaigns allowed me to learn a lot about political messaging, campaign management, and effective marketing.
Social Media
Another responsibility I had as the Communications and Marketing Specialist at Jolt was to manage all of the Jolt Action 501(c)4 and Jolt Initiative 501(c)3 social media channels. My small team and I managed the scheduling, designing, messaging, and topic ideation for all of these pages, posting at least once a day to keep our community informed about important election dates, issue education, and event opportunities. During my time at Jolt I wrote and designed over 200 social media posts, making sure they adhered to Jolt's branding guidelines and messaging tone while staying relatable and sincere.
As part of our social media campaigns, I wrote, shot, and edited videos. I paid close attention on keeping the viewer engaged, using conversation-style language, and trendy editing styles.

Art Direction & Management -
Artists in Residence Program
An additional aspect of my Social Media responsibilities was managing the Artists in Residence Program. This fellowship consists of 2-3 artists per year who produce videos, illustrations, animations and other assets. I was in charge of each of their projects, supporting with art direction, concept ideation, video editing, and campaign planning. Below are some of the posts that were produced under my management of this program.

Email Newsletter - "Spilling the Té"
One of the initiatives I took responsibility over was the biweekly Jolt Action Newsletter titled "Spilling the Té" (spilling the tea). Under my management, the number of newsletter recipients fluctuated between 7,000 and 9,000, with an average open rate of ~14.01%. Shortly aster I joined the team, we redesigned the Newsletter, focusing on featuring shorter, more engaging stories and centering the organization's impact as well as issue education. I managed the biweekly topic selection, story writing, and banner and editorial design for the newsletter, as well as any other email campaigns using tools like Canva, Google Drive and NGVPvan.
